Bravo has been replaying the series The West Wing over and over for several years. Which is fine with me, because I love it. I only wish we had a REAL president Bartlet.
Today was the “In Excelsis Deo” episode, where Toby gets a call about a homeless veteran who died wearing a coat he had donated. Toby arranges a burial at Arlington Cemetery, with full honors, and the funeral scene is one of the most touching of the whole series.
But today, for the first time, I wondered about the brother. He was homeless, too. Toby picked him up from the campground where he lived, to bring him to the ceremony, but what happened to him after that? Did anyone try to help him? Aaron Sorkin didn’t tell us.
In our “he’s too heavy, no way he’s my brother” society, no one cares about the brother.

“Seven in ten Americans are dissatisfied with the way things are going in Washington, including 22% who say they are ‘angry’ about the situation. Just 15% overall approve of the job being done by Congress.”
