God Bless Our Troops Who Serve: Democrats Stand With Them; Kerry’s Comment Was Stupid But Irrelevant

Several days ago I wrote a lengthy post with the hope that God will Bless our men and women who serve in Iraq and I truly hope and pray He does.

My point then, and now, was that Democrats may be far from perfect, but on issue after issue, time after time, year after year, the Democrats have been far more committed to giving support to our troops who serve so heroically, and our veterans who have served so heroically before.

Kerry’s comment dont change or mean a whit…

This is about our troops who deserve the support that they were not given by our partisan president, when he used this war for the wedge politics of division and fear.

This is about the disrespect shown by the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense for the advice of our commanders.

A Democratic Congress would show far more respect and will be a service to the nation and the troops.

This is about the lack of armor, equipment, bandages, helmets, fortified vehicles that were not provided by the Republicans in Washington.

Democrats fought to make things better. A Democratic Congress would be light years better for our troops in providing this support in the future…

God Bless our men and women who serve in Iraq.

God Bless their families.

We Democrats stand with you, the record speaks clearly to our history and support, and a Democratic Congress would be a victory for our troops, their families, and veterans who deserve far better than they received over these six hard years.

A Democratic Congress will bring the voices of veterans, the families of our troops, and the support for those who serve to the highest levels of leadership in Washington, where they belong.

China: N. Korea rejoins nuclear talks
North Korea has agreed to rejoin six-nation nuclear disarmament talks, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday. Chief envoys to the negotiations from China, North Korea and the United States held an informal meeting in Beijing on Tuesday and agreed to resume the six-nation talks, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its Web site. “The three parties agreed to resume the six-party talks at the earliest convenient time,” the statement said.
This is great news, but don’t let George Bush take credit for it.  The Chinese get the credit, for squeezing North Korea’s oil supply.

During a whirlwind five-hour trip to bolster an endangered GOP congressman’s reelection prospects, White House political guru Karl Rove last week delivered a fiery speech to 500 party activists, then shook every available hand and posed for snapshots like a rock star. He toured suburbs recently trashed by a snowstorm. He also found time to huddle with local strategists…

This week, Rove and his staff will turn to their endgame.

They will oversee a mobilization of political employees from Cabinet agencies, Capitol Hill and lobbying firms — many of them skilled campaign veterans — to more than a dozen battleground states. Webb: Democrats will provide Iraq remedy

The only remedy to a series of Iraq policy failures by President Bush is a Democratic takeover of Congress in the Nov. 7 election, Virginia Senate candidate Jim Webb said Saturday.

The former Republican, who was President Reagan’s Navy secretary, said in the Democrats’ weekly radio address that Bush’s “incompetence” in Iraq had undercut the fight against terrorism.

Webb is locked in a close race in Virginia against Republican Sen. George Allen (news, bio, voting record) that could determine whether the Senate remains in GOP control.

“Since 2003, President Bush has laid out nine different plans for victory in Iraq, none of them serious and none of them workable. And most seriously, this incompetence has hindered our ability to fight international terror,” Webb said…

House ethics guidelines and U.S. criminal code prohibit government officials or their staffs or campaigns from using their official positions for partisan political or campaign purposes, such as obtaining information about a political opponent from employees at executive branch agencies. “If this is in fact going on, it is clearly a violation of congressional ethics rules and not just by Weldon, but also by any public official in the executive branch who participated in the scheme,” said Craig Holman, campaign finance and lobbying specialist at the government watchdog group Public Citizen. “It also potentially crosses the line into criminal behavior.”…
